Mint:
Right im trying to figure out what to ask you first...
Ammar:
How bout "whats your name?"
Mint:
Hey, Who's doing the interview here?
Mint:
So how long you been working on this car now?
Ammar:
Well, i'd say February onwards.. actually, September 2006 onwards,
The b16 was dropped in and transmission converted to manual. That
was the first major mod apart from the wheels.
Mint:
So a wee while, Im guessing you already had a vision in mind of
what you were aiming for?
Ammar:
Yeah i had all the ek9 bits lying about since March 2006. The plan
was always to get it resprayed in starlight black and ek9 lips grill
and spoiler fitted. The inspiration for painting it starlight black
came from the trikmods ek9.
Mint:
Yeah? So like a clean 'JDM' look to it. So whats the future plans
you got in mind for the bad boy?
Ammar:
Yeah clean jdm look was always the idea, and the gold rims just
go perfect against the black paintwork. The polished lip gives it
that something extra when your cruising along the motorway!
Future plans
are to get the 300mm front brakes fitted, Skunk2 lca's and rear
lower tie bar fitted, get the manifold back exhaust system fitted,
oh and swap over the (11 year old) wind deflectors for the nice
new ones!
Mint:
So what is it? an EK3?..
Ammar:
Heres the cool bit, its a December 1995 JDM EK3, one of the first
EK hatches to be made
Mint:
Thats pretty random. Well all the best with the EK3. And nice one
on becoming Hondatech's first Ride of the Month! I'll let the pictures
do the rest of the talking.
Ammar:
Why thank you very much Mr President!
And can I just say thanks to Gerry @ PerformanceTek & Imy for
all the hard work, and Linz for all the discounted parts
